Sonia Orlu
Sonia Orlu is a PhD student in Political Science at Simon Fraser University (SFU).
She brings approximately 10 years of academic and professional experiences around issues relating to identity politics, critical research, and the political behavior of the African diaspora in Canada.
Her expertise in qualitative research methodologies, critical thinking, and evidence-informed approach to analyzing current social, economic, and political trends are part of her core strengths. Sonia's inquisitive personality drives high-quality research and evidence on consulting and advisory engagements. She develops nuanced, data-backed solutions to address complex organizational challenges on people development and culture change.
She is an essayist, a political commentator, and a creator of online educational materials that provide reasoned and informed perspectives on important social and political topics.
She served as an Instructor across several Canadian higher education institutions including Langara College, Columbia College, and SFU. She also worked as the Project Coordinator for the Institute for Diaspora Research & Engagement (IDRE) and SFU's Development and Sustainability Program.
Sonia holds a Master's degree in Political Science from SFU. She also holds Graduate certificates in Development and Sustainability and in University Teaching and Learning.
